Here are some simple guidelines to creating rooms that are both elegant, homey and comfortable:

- First - there's no such things as the right concept, but of course you have to follow certain guidelines. These guidelines are mostly common sense

- Always choose to go with something that has lasting appeal. It should also be made from materials that can age well, like good wooden furniture, or copper lighting. These kind of things can grow with you.

- Stick with 'form follows function'. Always start with the basics and what feels comfortable to you. You can't go wrong with that.

- For upholstered furniture, pck out those with pleasing natural or neutral colors like tan, navy, dark green, or black. These colors should be your 'base' color, and then the wall ans other pieces should be chosen to compliment that color.

- Finally live with what you love, especially when confronted with limited space. The way to do it is by spending a lot on a few high quality pieces that perform well, like a good comfortable sofa, stylish dining chair and solid teakwood plank dining table are essential. It's worth the monies since you will be spending a lot of time with them.
