A pillow can either provide your neck with comfort and support or a day of misery and discomfort when you wake up. To prevent the day of misery you have to make sure you buy the right density pillow for your preferred sleeping position. If the proper density is chosen you will never have to worry about that dreaded neck pain again. Your pillow will become your cloud of comfort; although if you have never shopped for a pillow before it can be extremely overwhelming when three different densities are sprung your way. How do you know when it's appropriate to buy that extra soft down pillow rather than the firm density pillow? This article addresses the three different densities of pillows that are out there and how you choose which density is appropriate for you.
To start off, the three densities of down pillows are soft, medium, and firm. Unlike foam pillows, down pillows surround the sleeper's head with luxury and comfort. They don't lose their loftiness or softness after a night's or even year's use. The firm density pillow is for side sleepers. This applies to 50% of the people out in the world. The firmness is needed in order to provide the proper support between the shoulders and the neck. It is generally thought the larger the pillow size the more room the filling has to move, meaning there is less concentrated support. It is recommended that if you want one that has a firm density that you buy a jumbo size because it is one of the smaller firm density pillows.
The next type of pillow would be a medium density pillow. This density is for back sleepers. About 25% of people are back sleepers. Less support is needed when sleeping on your back.
The soft density pillow applies to the remaining 25% of sleepers. It is for the stomach and face sleepers out there. The soft down pillow is recommended so the breathing area is not obstructed by the pillows material. DOWNLITE carries an extra soft down pillow that is has come back by popular requests. It is also know as a face pillow. This soft down pillow comes in two versions; a white duck down pillow which has blue stripe fabric and the white goose down which is solid white fabric. Both are considered a basic white down pillow only with a soft density. The white goose down pillow and the white duck down feel similar but both are offered in order to satisfy all customers.
All pillows from DOWNLITE are hypoallergenic and machine washable and dryable unless they contain silk or rayon fabrics. It is highly recommended that you check the tags on your pillow before throwing them in the wash. It is recommended that when you purchase your soft down pillow, you also get a pillow protector in order to keep makeup and skin oils from ruining it. It is also easier to wash the pillow protectors regularly with your other bedding while then only washing your pillows a couple times a year.(Stevan Hunter)
